3-Part Journal Prompt to Guide You through Holiday Healthy Eating

Now that the holiday season is officially underway, it’s likely that more and more opportunities to throw your eating off track are starting to pop up, whether it’s extra treats at work, comfort food cravings on these cold evenings, or festive Starbucks drinks calling your name. 

To help you navigate these situations, I thought I’d share an exercise we did last week inside The CC Circle coaching group.

It’s helpful to do any time but especially this time of year so you can stay on track while still enjoying the holiday foods you love most.

So grab your favorite pen, journal, and beverage of choice, and journal on these 3 prompts:


#1 Write down your "non-negotiables".

What are those indulgences or experiences this holiday season that truly add value and enjoyment to your life? They could revolve around a date night, party, or even a specific food you love like your favorite Christmas cookies that your mom makes every year.

#2 Write down your "temporary temptations".

These are those indulgent foods or meals likely to come up that don’t actually add much value to your life. They’re mainly about short-term gratification. For example, are those treats in the break room really worth it or are you just eating them because you’re bored?

#3 Write down what you'll do when they come up.

Now, make a plan for those temporary temptations! Rather than giving in to those treats at work, perhaps you could kindly say no thanks, grab a glass of water, and take a short walk outside. 


And that’s it! 

The more clarity you have around your non-negotiables, the easier it is to pass on the temporary temptations, stay on track between festive foods and events, and indulge guilt-free.
